60th Anniversary of CSIRAC

On 18 November 2009, the Pearcey Foundation, ACS Victoria Branch together with the Melbourne Museum, will celebrate the 60th anniversary of CSIRAC. It will commemorate:

  • The 60th anniversary of the execution of the first stored program.
  • The listing of CSIRAC on the Victorian Heritage Register (the first time that an object rather than a building is registered).
  • The plans for the future of the CSIRAC display at the Melbourne Museum.

The 2009 Pearcey Medal was awarded to Professor Murray Allen. The Pearcey Medal is Australia’s most prestigious Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry award to an individual who has made an outstanding life-long commitment to the ICT sector.

2009 ACT Award

The 2009 ACT State Pearcey Award was presented to Mr Michael McGoogan on Wednesday 16th September 2009 in Canberra at the Canberra Business Events Centre, Regatta Point. The award was presented by Mr Jon Stanhope MLA, Chief Minister for the ACT during the Business in Focus Month and jointly sponsored with the Australian Computer Society, ACT Branch.
