2013 Tas Award

At a gala State iAwards presentation evening on 20th June in the Henry Jones IXL Art Hotel, the Premier of Tasmania, the Hon Lara Giddings, presented Lawrence Howson with the 2013 Tasmania Pearcey Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The Tasmania iAwards event is organised by ACS Tasmania in conjunction with the Pearcey Foundation and support from AIIA. Support also came from the Tasmanian Government, CSIRO, University of Tasmania and Hays Recruiting.

Lawrence Howson

After graduating from the University of Sydney in 1984 in Economics and Information Science, Lawrence developed his IT skills in parallel with his entrepreneurial skills. He moved to Tasmania in 1990 as an assistant IT manager in the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts and then moved to Tote Tasmania as GM of Technology Development as a precursor to ‘running a risk and making a difference’. He established his own start-up, XVT Solutions, in 2002 as an IT service provider offering a range of services encompassing the full software development life cycle. His company has an outstanding track record in Tasmania and throughout Australia with a set of exemplar clients distinguishing him and his team in the Tasmanian ICT services industry.

Lawrence, in winning this award, qualified as a finalist in the 2013 Benson Award for the most outstanding entrepreneur in the ICT sector.
