2025 WA Award
The 2025 WA Pearcey Entrepreneur Award was presented to Chris Morrissey, founder and CEO of Ever Nimble, at the 34th WAITTA Incite Awards in Perth on Friday 18th July 2025.
Chris is the founder and CEO of Ever Nimble, an award-winning Managed IT and Security Provider. Ever Nimble started in Perth in 2018 and has grown to be is one of the biggest MSPs in Western Australia with nearly 100 people and offices in Australia, Canada and the UK.
Glenn Butcher, Chief Judge, INCITE Awards, commented,
Chris is the epitome of a modern entrepreneur — bold, resilient, and purpose-driven. Starting with zero revenue in the world’s most isolated capital, he took extraordinary risks to build one of Western Australia’s most successful global MSPs, reshaping cyber security for small and medium businesses across multiple countries. As a visionary force in tech, Chris has not only defied the odds to lead industry transformation, but has also broken barriers in a male-dominated field — championing diversity, mentoring underrepresented talent, and creating an inclusive, values-driven culture that’s redefining what leadership in IT looks like. On behalf of the 34th INCITE Awards, congratulations Chris Morrissey on being named the 2025 WA Pearcey Entrepreneur of the Year .
Chris Morrissey
Chris's career had an unconventional start in retail in the UK. As a manager responsible for 200 stores, he worked extensively with the IT department, but found the IT team lacked understanding how to communicate with or provide value for the wider business.
Chris had always had a passion for technology, and decided to pivot into IT knowing his customer service background could make a difference – even if this meant a demotion and pay cut. While working full time, he went to university as a mature age student to get a qualification in computing. However, after graduating, he found it hard to break into the IT industry in post-GFC south Wales.
In 2011, Chris moved to Australia and leveraged his retail experience to obtain an entry-level position at an IT support desk. Within five years, he had progressed to become an IT Manager.
In 2015, his next career step was moving to CSA global, a mining consultancy. During this time, Chris saw a gap in the market for services focused on SMB IT and cybersecurity. The potential opportunity was to form a company that could support the technology needs of both CSA and their clients with managed services.
Ever Nimble
In mid 2018, Chris founded Ever Nimble to provide managed IT and cybersecurity services. Initially, it was a hard task to pitch and win customers in a market that lacked cybersecurity awareness because many SMB owners didn’t understand the value or see the investment as worthwhile. However, CSA did become Ever Nimble's first customer and there was a market need.
From a standing start, Ever Nimble has steadily grown. Within three years, Ever Nimble had become a highly respected MSP with 35 staff. Today, Ever Nimble is one of the biggest MSPs in WA with a team of nearly 100 people and offices in Perth, Melbourne, Queensland, Swansea UK, and Calgary CA. The Swansea and Calgary offices ensure the team can provide local clients with 24/7 support.
Ever Nimble has received many industry awards including fastest growing MSP (Channel Futures), the 7th fastest growing technology company in Australia (CRN), MSP of the Year (Kaseya), and consistently making the prestigious MSP 501. The company has also been recognised as a Great Place to Work and acknowledged as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces in Technology – which reflect the inclusive, diverse, and caring work culture that Chris leads.
Chris has built Ever Nimble into a significant Perth company and helped put Perth on the technology map. His quest for excellence has raised the bar for tools and services SMBs can access, and the resultant cybersecurity posture they can achieve. This includes Ever Nimble being the first to bring CrowdStrike to Australian companies with less than 250 staff, providing a cost-effective and automated PenTesting platform, and leading the way for the SMB1001 cybersecurity certification (which is purpose made for SMBs).
In Industry
Chris is a strong advocate for cyber awareness. Each quater, Ever Nimble runs a Lunch and Learn event, which provide a space for
industry experts to talk to IT managers and CFOs about the need for cybersecurity. The events champion education, highlight current
threats, and promote the adoption and implementation of preventative and responsive security measures.
Chris has always keen to progress the MSP industry and bring about change. He is a regular public speaker, including CyberWest and other
MSP focused events on regulations in the industry, and at Kaseya’s DattoCon on cyber security and the need to strive for better. He is
seen as a role model in the SMB IT and cybersecurity space, and takes time to mentor and coach other MSPs. He works with owners to support
success, ensure they can secure their customers, and provide guidance for their journey. This has also seen him play a pivotal role in the
launch of Electric Peach in 2022 – a marketing agency designed for tech companies. Today, he acts as an advisor and coach for the business
to ensure it provides real and relevant value for clients.
Chris is also the Non-Executive Director of Core Plan, a digital operations platform for mining and drilling. His work with the business over the past eight years has been instrumental to growth and success, and today they’re known as the leaders in drilling software for the mining industry with clients like BHP and Fortescue Metals Group.
Diversity
Chris isn't shy about disrupting the male dominated IT industry. From the beginning, Ever Nimble has had a core value to facilitate diversity champions, and create a caring, diverse, and inclusive culture. Chris was a top 5 finalist for the WITWA Diversity Ally award, and is passionate about working with women without prior IT experience and providing mentoring to progress their careers within the company. These women now hold senior roles at Ever Nimble, and have the chance to be role models for the next generation of women in technology.
Chris also supports the careers of women within the company through equality at a policy level, normalising open discussions around diversity, and fostering a supportive culture with an open door policy and regular 1:1 meetings to create a safe environment for women to raise concerns and discuss career progression. Each of these initiatives has been instrumental in creating a workplace that supports women in IT, and allows Ever Nimble to be an example of the power of championing diversity and equality.
Students
Chris and Ever Nimble have built a strong reputation of inspiring young people to join the IT industry and creating opportunities to support their career growth.
This has been achieved through a range of initiatives, including a casual recruitment process that allows students in their first and second year of study to join the company in flexible roles – something that’s unusual in the industry. The process includes working closely with Edith Cowan University and TAFE, and gives students hands on experience and coaching to use real technology and tools. This also provides opportunities to grow their careers and secure a full-time role when they graduate.
Almost 30 positions have been created for this process, and it’s been instrumental in launching flourishing careers in technology. The company has even seen students who joined Ever Nimble as casuals go on to achieve significant success including securing senior government roles.
Ever Nimble has also worked with Students of Cyber by CyberWest Hub to run events that provide insights into the industry, tips to get hired, and valuable networking opportunities.
Social media has also been essential to inspire young people looking to join the IT field and advocate for cybersecurity and cyber awareness. Chris has built his personal brand and Ever Nimble’s awareness, and regularly contributes industry insights and provides guidance when people looking to begin or progress their career reach out.
