2024 National Awards Gala & CSIRAC 75th

November 19th, Victoria Park Garden Marquee

An evening of celebration and recognition, the Pearcey National Awards Gala started with the Queensland Pearcey Entrepreneur Award presented to Andrew Bate, founder of SwarmFarm Robotics, by the Honourable Minister Steven Minnikin, Queensland Minister for Customer Services and Open Data and Minister for Small and Family Business.

Next was the Pearcey National Entrepreneur Award presented by Emeritus Professor Roy Green AM to Ian Croser AM and David Gaul co-founders of CEA Technologies.

Outstanding Australians, Jan Kornweibel and Professor Andrew Dzurack, were inducted into the Pearcey Hall of Fame. These awards were presented by the Honourable Kate Lundy, (Pearcey Hall of Fame 2017).

The pinnacle of the evening was when 2023 Pearcey Medallist, David Tudehope, presented Professor Svetha Venkatesh with the Pearcey Medal.

In the course of the evening, there were addresses by national figures, Professor Roy Green AM and Helen McHugh, to recognise the 75th anniversary of the first operation of CSIRAC - the first digital computer invented in Australia.

To mark the evening the Pearcey Foundation presented gifts of an authoritative history of CSIRAC - The Last of the First. This excellent work was co-authored by Pearcey Heritage chair, Dr Peter Thorne AM, and published by the University of Melbourne. (Downloadable as a soft copy.)

The entire evening was recorded, and the recordings can be accessed below, or on our YouTube channel.

In addition to the recordings below, you can find all the photos from the evening here:
