2009 Pearcey Celebration of CSIRAC 60th Anniversary

The 2009 National Pearcey Event was held on Thursday 1st October 2009 at the Sofitel Hotel in Melbourne. At the gala dinner, Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications, and Digital Economy presented the 2009 Pearcey Medal to Professor Murray Allen. The Pearcey Oration was delivered by Robyn Williams, of the ABC's Science Program. Preceding the dinner was a RoundTable debate to discuss the impact of the newly announced NBN (National Broadband Network) initiative on the Australian economy. In addition, we have had some highly successful state events, most recently including the NSW "Young Guns" debate and awards evening at NSW Parliament.

2008

The 2008 National Pearcey Event was held on Thursday 11th September 2008 at the Westin Hotel, #1 Martin Place, Sydney. The Minister for Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy presented the 2008 Pearcey Medal to Neville Roach at a gala dinner. The dinner followed a lively industry debate on the Green Paper resulting from the 2008 Cutler Innovation Review and published in early September 2008. The evening concluded with the 'Pearcey Oration' delivered by Dr Terry Cutler who was chair of the committee responsible for this Innovation Review Green Paper. Well known industry commentator Graeme Philipson gives his Impressions of the event's proceedings in a succinct summary of what the ICT industry's reaction was and should be to the Cutler Review.
