Peter Ward, Founder of Wardy IT, wins 2010 Queensland Pearcey Award

Brisbane, 20 September 2010: Peter Ward, Founder and Chief Technical Architect of Wardy IT Solutions, was presented the 2010 Queensland Pearcey Award by Robert Schwarten MP, the QLD Minister for Public Works and Information and Communication Technology. This award recognises and celebrates the achievements of Australia's ICT and Digital Media entrepreneurs; Peter’s achievements were acknowledged at a gala dinner in Brisbane on 20th September as part of the 2010 World Computer Congress (WCC).

Peter was unable to accept the award in person as he was in the USA working with Microsoft on a Software Design Review for the next release of SQL Server. However there was a Skype hook-up from the award ceremony to Peter's hotel room in Redmond.

The Pearcey State Awards are aimed at encouraging and rewarding fresh and innovative talent in the ICT profession. It is awarded to an individual during their career who have "taken a risk and made a difference" within the ICT industry within each Australian State.

Supported by, the Australian Computer Society (ACS), CSIRO, National ICT Australia and the Queensland Government , the Pearcey Awards event attracted near 500 senior representatives from the ICT industry from Australia and overseas. The Pearcey Medal and Queensland Pearcey Award events were part of the International Federation of Information Processing 2010 World Computer Congress held in Brisbane during the week 20-23 September 2010.
